What Good Open World Pc Games Are There?

I want to play a game like Oblivion where I can do almost anything I want. I’ve played Morrowind and Fable 2, Fallout 3 and have Bioshock, Mass Effect for PC/Console. What other games are there for the pc where you get to do anything? No Simms, WoW, or other online MMOs like Warhammer.
Also if you are good with the computer, you should answer tech questions I have for my PC. Thanx!

Computer Games – the New Sport

The popularity of computer games has grown exponentially over the past couple of decades, this is because a game for almost every interest has been created, from traditional board games, to card games and even extremely complex alien invasions they have all been released under the PC platform.
The advantage of PC games over consoles is that they are usually a lot cheaper than their counterparts and have almost all of the features found in more expensive games designed exclusively for PlayStation, Xbox or any other standalone console.   Those who do not want to pay for a game will always have the option of using the Web to find simpler but yet entertaining applications and if you decide to take some time to find some good free online games and you’re sure to come across some very remarkable places.
Today we’re going to talk about those games that have been released exclusively for PC and that most of the time will not be found for free on the Web, if you examples are: Team Fortress, F. E. A. R. , Age of Conan, Mass Effect and such. All of these games are a common characteristic which is that they all require a pretty good system in order to take advantage of all the graphics and action they provide.
The New Sport
Has computer gaming become a new sport?  Many PC gamers will undoubtedly answer in a positive way and they would not be completely wrong due to the fact that many games made for PC can be enhanced with the use of custom-made peripherals that can be purchased separately.   The Nintendo Wii started the revolution interactive gaming by completely engaging the player in a physical activity, this may be a workout routine, an outdoor game such as golf or even an RPG.
Physical interaction through special controllers can be added to PC gaming which is a very special feature that can effectively turn any game into an actual sport that can be played indoors and will provide many health-related benefits when compared to the versions that did not require any movement whatsoever.
PC controllers that have turned everything around come in different shapes and sizes, some are enhanced joysticks, others are racing wheels and yes, even the Nintendo Wii controllers can be adapted to a PC port so playing your favorite RPG or combat game can actually become a more engaging activity.

Obsidian: Alpha Protocol sex scenes ’satisfying’ (Alpha Protocol)

Sex scenes in upcoming role-playing shooter Alpha Protocol are "satisfying" but "tasteful", developer Obsidian has said.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com, Obsidian programming producer Nathan Davis confirmed no gameplay elements will be involved.

Video game sex is currently in vogue, with US RPG developer BioWare in particular happy to include sex scenes in its games.

2007’s Mass Effect allowed player characters, male and female, to have sex with computer-controlled male humans and female aliens, without showing full-frontal nudity.

Mass Effect comic in effect Jan. 6

BioWare senior writer Mac Walters working with Dark Horse Comics on sequential art edition of sci-fi RPG; story fills in gap between original and upcoming sequel.

BioWare’s Mass Effect has been widely praised for its reaching story, garnering praise enough for ex-Marvel Comics CEO Avi Arad to option the rights to adapt the game into a film last year. As it would turn out, Mass Effect will also be receiving the comics treatment proper. BioWare parent Electronic Arts today announced today the game will be elaborated with a new comic series, with the first issue hitting newsstands on January 6.

In collaboration with Dark Horse Comics, BioWare will create the comic Mass Effect: Redemption, which will bridge the storyline from the end of Mass Effect to the beginning of the upcoming sequel, Mass Effect 2. The first installment of the four-part comic series promises to introduce unseen locations, enemies, and aliens.

The story will be written by BioWare’s lead writer Mac Walters, the scriptwriter behind the second game. Mass Effect: Redemption will be scripted by John Jackson Miller, the writer behind the Knights of the Old Republic comic series, and will be drawn by Omar Francia, who has worked on several issues of Star Wars: Legacy Dark Horse Comics is the publisher for Star Wars both series. Walters and Francia will be at Comic-Con International 2009 in San Diego on July 24 to sign Mass Effect cards.

Dark Horse Comics has adapted previous series into comics, such as Aliens, Star Wars, and Serenity. Mass Effect 2 is expected to arrive during EA’s current fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2010. For more information on the upcoming game, refer to GameSpot’s past coverage and the E3 stage demo video below.

MAG delayed to ‘10, Dragon Age CE’d – Retail Radar

GameStop and GameFly now listing Zipper Interactive 256-person team shooter as arriving next January; BioWare’s fantasy RPG gets extra-packed $75/$65 collector’s edition with Mass Effect 2 in-game bonus.

One of the centerpieces of Sony’s press briefing at the Electronic Entertainment Expo was the first live demo of MAG. (See video below.) The first-party military shooter was shown being simultaneously played by 256 employees of its developer, Zipper Interactive, from a variety of points of view. Commanders will see a top-down video of the battlefield from which they can direct lower-level soldiers, who will see a grunt’s-eye view.

Playable on the show floor, the PlayStation 3-exclusive MAG made an impression on many E3 attendees, who were eager to pick it up later this year. Now, though, it appears the wait may be a bit longer. Though Sony said at E3 that the game would ship in the fall, both GameStop and GameFly are now listing it as arriving in January 2010. Conversely, Best Buy is still listing the game as arriving in October, while Amazon is not offering up a ship date at all. Sony had not responded to requests for clarification on MAG’s launch window as of press time.

Electronic Arts is being far less recalcitrant about its release plans for Dragon Age: Origins, the role-playing game from BioWare due out on October 20. Besides the previously announced no-frills edition ($49.99 PC, $59.99 consoles), the game will come in a collector’s edition that will retail for $64.99 on the PC and $74.99 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The collector’s edition will feature a tin case, a cloth map, and an extra-laden bonus DVD that includes a soundtrack, a strategy guide, concept art footage, wallpapers, and a “making-of” documentary. It will also feature several virtual goods, including the “Stone Prisoner” bonus quest and an unlockable character called Shale. The disc will feature three other pieces of in-game content whose types were unspecified:”Bergens Honor,” “Grimoire of the Frozen Wastes,” and “Final Reason.” Those who preorder the game from GameStop will get two other in-game items that increase health regeneration and experience accrual.

Finally, also included in the Dragon Age: Origins collector’s edition is an unnamed in-game item to be used in another BioWare game, Mass Effect 2, due out in spring 2010.

Buy Dragon Age: Origins, get Mass Effect 2 bonus content? (Mass Effect 2)

According to an alleged fan survey, BioWare and Electronic Arts are considering using in-game Mass Effect 2 bonuses to encourage the purchase of its other big RPG, Dragon Age: Origins. The survey asks players what kind of incentives would make them most likely to purchage Dragon Age, and gives a selection of examples.

Suggestions for bonus content include a $5 rebate on Mass Effect 2, exclusive weaponry, custom skins, a brand new character and a playable demo. It’s not often that the purchase of one game could affect the gameplay content of a completely separate title, but if this glimpse into BioWare’s mind leads to a real marketing stunt, then it’s something gamers are about to see.
