I dictate texts for transcription. I need very little during recording: (1) a pause button to think what to say next.

Does not work in (Ubuntu) linux
Long story short. While it has a usb port, it does not go into mass storage mode. So you need the proprietary software on the CD to read your audio from it.

As a recorder it is easy to use & works fine. In order to transfer files you must have windows to install the software.
